The Festival of Squash 2027 is a three-day celebration of squash that brings together participation, development, and performance in one vibrant festival atmosphere. Running alongside the New Zealand Open environment, the festival creates opportunities for players of all ages and abilities to connect with the sport through social competition, elite player interaction, coaching experiences, and high-performance junior competition.


The festival is built around three distinctive experiences – Festival Doubles, Festival Futures, and the Festival Junior Invitational – each designed to engage a different segment of the squash community while creating a unified event that showcases the best of the game. From social doubles players and aspiring juniors to the country’s most promising young talents, Festival of Squash 2027 offers an inclusive pathway for everyone to be part of a world-class squash celebration.


More than just a tournament, the key feature of the festival is its direct connection to the New Zealand Open 2027. Each day, Festival of Squash activity is scheduled to seamlessly transition into the evening NZ Open sessions, allowing participants to move from playing, learning, and competing during the day to experiencing world-class squash at night. Whether it’s Festival Doubles players finishing a day on court, Futures participants meeting and learning from professional athletes, or Junior Invitational competitors watching the sport’s best players in action, the festival creates a natural pathway into the NZ Open experience.

Festival Futures is a development-focused experience designed to bring together emerging junior players from across New Zealand in a positive, high-quality learning environment. Through professionally delivered camps, participants will have the chance to learn from leading coaches and professional players while building skills, confidence, and connections within the sport.


Rather than focusing solely on competition, Festival Futures prioritises growth, inspiration, and engagement. Attendees will take part in coaching sessions, workshops, question-and-answer opportunities, and interactions with professional athletes competing at the New Zealand Open.


By creating meaningful links between aspiring juniors and the professional game, Festival Futures provides a unique opportunity to kickstart the squash season and help young players develop both on and off the court.

Festival Junior Invitational

The future stars of the game take centre stage.
The Festival Junior Invitational showcases New Zealand’s leading junior talent in a high-performance tournament environment. Featuring a 24-player draw, the tournament provides an important competitive opportunity for the country’s most promising young athletes.


Held as part of the wider Festival of Squash, the Invitational places junior players alongside major event activity while giving them their own platform to perform, compete, and inspire the next generation. The event culminates with finals on the glass court, giving finalists the opportunity to compete in a professional showcase setting.


The Festival Junior Invitational creates a clear pathway from participation to performance, highlighting the talent, commitment, and future potential of New Zealand squash.
